rosebud

Hi - I've taken this photo which I feel could be pretty good, but I'm struggling to get it 'there'. I've tried stacking 4 or 5 images, darkening the background, upping the saturation and so on, but it all looks too edited. Any suggestions on how to improve it? Feel free to give it a go yourself...
