Hi, when i gone to the forest I saw this bug, orange and black, on the floor, with ... baby ?
I don't know what is it, if it's babys or other bug which attack ...
It is a Necrophore (Nicrophorus), a necrophagous beetle, which carries mites which take advantage of the beetle to move from corpse to cadaver and thus enjoy its meals! It's a bit like the bus invented by insects !!!
Looks like a Burying beetle with mite infestation to me. Extremely cool shot.
There's probably something dead nearby. In uni I worked as a field assistant for a bark beetle monitoring project, which was part of a bigger monitoring project of forest animals. Another group placed plastic cups filled with soapy water in the ground as barber ptifall traps. Somehow their field assistant didn't empty the traps often enough I think. When I looked inside there were lots of these Necrophorus beetles, probably attracted by the smell of the other dead insects.
