Hi. I'm planning to purchase a new lens for portraits photography. And was wondering which one to choose. I was looking at this 2 lenses, the only big difference is the price . But I would like to know the quality of it too.

Canon f1.2 does provide very creamy background, and very good quality glass. But it's very expensive. Are you doing it as a professional or hobbyist ?

I have the f1. 8 one and very happy with results. The L version is a bit to expensive for my pocket

I do agree with Natalie, the L version it's extremely expensive. But you get for you pay.

I would go for cheap one first, to check if it's the right lens for my requirements. Investment a lot of money straight into an expensive lens, will be a bit irrelevant.

Also the 50mm f1.8 does provide decent sharp pictures. I don't think you will go wrong with this pancake lens.

If your budget permits than go for f1.2 or f1.4 for professional work otherwise f1.8 will do good job. Regards,

I have the f1.8 version, isnt bad at all, for the money it cost is a bargain.

Yes. But this lens over the period looses the focus as its components are made from plastics and hence I recommend atleast f1.4 as its not so costly. I was using f1.2 for long than sold it and now I have f1.4. My all macro shots are from this lens most of time. Regards,

To be honest I didn’t knew about that. Are this referring to all canon lenses ?
How is f1.4 version ?
