Hi, Greg here from Adelaide, Australia. My day job is a full stack web dev. I've always had a bit of an interest in photography - my wife and I bought a Nikon D5100 about ten years ago and I learned enough to be dangerous, but it spent most of its time in the cupboard. Just under a year ago I dusted it off in an attempt to take better photos of my bonsai trees in training and then ended up down the rabbit hole. Insects are definitely my thing, but I also enjoy snapping birds. For a while I used a D5300 with a Nikon Micro 85mm lens (+ Godox TT600), a combo which I loved. I also have a Raynox DCR-150 and DCR-250 which I mostly use with the macro lens to get in a bit closer.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a Sigma 150mm macro OS lens which I am very much in love with - super sharp, and on sunny days I can leave the speedlight at home. Unfortunately a week ago my trusty D5300 bit the dust, so I am bodiless at the moment but will hopefully pick up a second-hand D7200 at some point soon.
I joined up to get inspiration and hopefully some constructive criticism on some of my shots.
Attached are some of my favourite critter shots so far.
