Hi all! My names Joshua from Wales. I'm very new to macro photography. Started off with a Canon M50 MKii and a sigma 105mm 1:1 macro lens but recently upgraded to a Sony a7iv and Laowa 100mm f2.8 2:1 macro lens. I'm yet to get a speed light and I've read that's essential to macro for photography. Which would be a good one to get? And any general tips? Thanks all and I look forward to getting to know like minded people!

Josh

Here you can find two differents diffuser. One for my setup (MFT camera, 50mm Laowa and Godox V350o flash) and the V2 for 100mm on APS-C camera with big speedlight flash.

Hello from London Joshua. Welcome on board. I'm glad that you have joined us and I really hope you will enjoy your stay. Both cameras and lenses are good enough to achieve stunning macro results. Yes, you need to get a speed light and a Diffuser ( MinitecaPhotographie MinitecaPhotographie can give better advice here)

What's your budget? For other tips, check out resources page.

Budget would probably be around £300-£400 for a speed light and diffuser

You could built your own diffuser by following tutorials from resources page, and get more budget to get better speedlight.

Hi and welcome J J5HY on board! I hope you'll enjoy your stay and I'm looking forward to see your first photos! I can recommend speed lights from Neewer or Godox which aren't too expensive but works quiet well!

Hi and welcome here J J5HY. There is many good diffuser on the market like AK diffuser or Beetle Diffuser. You can also made it by yourself as I've done. I've posted some drawings of my diffuser witch is compact and made for my setup. But I can share with us a model made for Apsc camera and speedlight flash.
