Hi all, I’ve been learning how to understand and use the camera settings for a couple of years now, since buying camera that’s more than a point and shoot. I’m thinking of getting some extension tubes to try out at first, with a 50mm f/1.8 Canon prime lens, rather than invest in a dedicated macro lens.

I took this photo today but it’s not very sharp plus the background is messy (with a Canon EOS M50 and a EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens.) There are some fantastic images on here and I’m keen to learn. 8FE5991D-8E1B-4C6B-A7E7-95DDA4ADD1C6.jpeg

Welcome SueO. :) What a gorgeous butterfly! The patterns are incredible. You will do well with extension tubes, I'm sure. I still use mine even though I have a macro lens.

Hi, SueO SueO ! Welcome to community. Glad you join here.
The butterfly is very beautiful.
For macro, you can also consider to use raynox DCR 150 or 250 as alternative too.
Looking forward to see more photos from you. Hope you enjoy your stay here. ☺️
