It is not very often I come across these spiders when they are calm enough to be photographed, usually they just scoot away when I approach, and they are fast !!!
This fella hung around for a while, and I got a few shots from different angles, didn't seem bothered by me at all.
The Huntsman spider can grow quite large, with males reaching a leg span of up to 30 centimetres. While not really aggressive, their bite can be painful and cause a few days of discomfort for humans.
Huntsman spiders do not make webs, as they hunt for food over a large area instead. Their diet consists primarily of insects, invertebrates, and small skinks and geckos.
