This is called Mantis Wasp because it looks so similar to a Preying Mantis. They are so colorful and look so mean. This one had an injured wing and could not get away. I had to keep coaxing him out from under a leaf.

Nikon D7100, handheld, 50mm + 12mm ext. tube, ISO320, f/13, 1/200 sec., no flash

The mother must be a wasp and the father must be a praying mantis! (Kidding ).
I never knew before there is such a creature like this. Thanks for sharing, Tina.

Wow! Wasps are already some scary SOBs, now its got mantis arms?! Fascinating but damn scary , nice shot and thanks for sharing

I've never seen such an insect before! That's really cool! I love the second photo the most! Especially because of the eyes! So colorful!
