I have been playing around with High Speed Sync with my flash to enable me to use a higher shutter speed to darken the background of the images. Still experimenting with this though but having fun. I also just decided to purchase Zerene Stacker so have been working out that program also.
The first Mantis head shot is a stack of 108 images
The head and legs is a stack of 188 images
The last head shot is a stack of 51 images

Canon R5, Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro, Canon MT-26EX-RT twin lite flash (with HSS enabled)
F/4.5, 1/1000, ISO 50
Appreciate any feedback and critique.

How did you get the mantis to stay still?..
Hi Hurricane Holmes,
This was a Mantis I found dead on the floor in the house. I was lucky to find it before the ants or any other bugs did. I put it in a plastic container for a day in the fridge before I had time to photograph it.
I am not a fan of killing insects just to photograph them, but if I find a recently deceased one I try to take advantage if I can.

I like working at Helicon Foccus better...
I have been using Affinity photo for a while Sergey, but it had challenges with colour to be honest which I didn't like... so I tried Helicon and Zerene trial programs.. I liked Helicon also, but just found Zerene fit better to my workflow. it was 50/50 though which one I went with as I think they both produced very similar results.

Outstanding! Even after I've zoomed in I couldn't find any halos or layer errors! The colors looks so natural and the soft diffuse light is perfect! The last picture looks a bit too dark, but that's really all from my side! So 10/10 stars for the first and second picture and 9/10 for the last one.
