It is most often a question of circumstance, weather ... and patience. I think that insects (and spiders) also have some form of "intelligence", receptiveness to the environment and to other living things (therefore, to us) and know, instinctively, if there is a real danger. or notAmazing! Most of the insects which I've seen so far would never do such things. They would fly away or hide behind a leaf but wouldn't crawl around on my hand.
