It begins in 1928, when agronomist Ferdinand Larose established the first conifer planting on abandoned farmlands near Bourget. Since then, it has turned into a site of the most interesting woodlands of the Ottawa Valley. 10,944.7-hectare (27,045-acre) forest, part of the 71,100,000 hectares (176,000,000 acres) of forest in Ontario. Home to the rare Ghost Tiger Beetle (Ellipsoptera lepida) Larose Forest, Limoges, Ontario, Canada. Conservation Status: imperiled (N2N3) in Canada (NatureServe).
