It’s just interesting, how often photographers are using their tripods in general. Example, I have a tripod, but I’m not using it often, even if I go out to visit places, most of my images are taken hand held. Thanks for IS on my lenses.

Are you heavily relying on tripod ?

I have a tripod which I really love it, however I haven't tried it yet on the field. You can get cheap tripods from amazon nowadays, but not sure how reliable will be. I wouldn't trust chep tripod to hold an expensive camera.

Some might say while shooting macro, you'll need a tripod for steady shot but I prefer a steady hand in most cases. While shooting still life images, you can definitely use a tripod but while shooting insects or any living creature, you'll find it very difficult to use a tripod. Tripod is a must while shooting macro videos!! So, for macro photos, tripod is not at all necessary but for videos, it's a must. That's my opinion though. I use my tripod mainly for long exposure shots, astrophotography and for shooting videos.

Wow, would love to see some of these images. You can share them in Miscellaneous subforum.

Agree with you, however I do believe if you are shooting extreme macro, then thats an other case when a tripod is a must.

Yes, I agree that while shooting macros, a tripod really makes it easier. I mostly shoot insects in my garden. Shooting live insects is quite hard sometimes specially when there's wind blowing..You've faced this I'm sure..So it's a hassle to move the tripod, adjust it and at the same time shoot a perfectly timed shot..It's quite difficult for me at least..So in those situation I try to use wide aperture with a shutter speed of at least 1/250s to 1/500s with a lower ISO. While shooting extreme macros, I always use focus peeking..It's quite helpful in my opinion. If you have no problem using a tripod in those situations then it's definitely better to use one.

I do have my tripod with me all the time, but very few occasions when I use it. As you said when shooting moving small subjects like insects, it's more harder to take pictures.
