I love the coral fungi and was so excited to find this Violet Coral Fungus (Clavaria zollingeri) in the woods of Alleyn-et-Cawood, Québec, Canada. Found this fungus to be the most difficult to capture well in the dark woods and its colour also played a factor.

I haven't seen this kind of coral mushroom Greg Shchepanek. Try to use a higher aperture. Maybe f/5 or F/8. The DOF is much too small for your subject.

I was lucky to come across it twice in the woods, here is my first observation where the lighting was better

This one we can see better because of depth of field Greg Shchepanek , how small they are ?

I prefer the second one as well, DOF was a bit too shallow for me on the first photo and I agree that the light was also better in the second.

The second one with the higher DOF looks much more pleasant! Great spotted and captured Greg Shchepanek. Looks really good!
