What is a cobra flash? is it a speedlite or something else?

seen the term used much. is it a brandname or a generic name. what does it actually mean?

Hi Shan I take it to mean an external flash/ speedlight with a tilting, rotating head.
I think it got it`s name as it looks a bit like a cobra.
Its a generic name given to this type of unit.
