Another photo of the Twin-lobed Deerfly.
Now between the drops.
And did you know that these don't sting but bite.
When they bite you, they bite a piece out of your skin and it hurts so much.
This photo was not taken in a studio, but simply in the open air.
You can also take good photos with a simple setting (see second photo).
Tripod has been replaced by a self-made garden bench.
Did use a remote control.
How simple can you make it.
It's not a world photo, but that's not the point.
If you look closely at a Wasp you will see three dots on top of their heads.
Do you know what the three dots on the head of a wasp are for?
The three dots are extra eyes (ocelli).
This allows them to distinguish light and dark and probably also...
This bubble blowing is an activity that many flies practice.
The bubble (actually a droplet) is always sucked in again.
There are all kinds of theories about it among fly connoisseurs; for example, it is suggested that it is a way to warm up.
It seems that flies always do this with their head to...
Yesterday I once made a stack with the 300mmf / 4 and that goes very well.
If you then look through the viewfinder you think wow that will never work out.
Because if I already move a 1 / 10mm, it is 3cm at 5 meters. But when the camera is ready and you look at the stacked photo,
I am happy...
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about when I mention focus stacking, I'll try to explain it here.
Working close-up to a subject reduces the depth of field quite a bit, which can be lovely, but sometimes we need a bit more of the subject in focus to do it justice. During a focus...

The photo is taken out of hand again.
The Olympus five-axis image stabilization is so incredibly good that you don't actually need a tripod during the day.
And I have a steady hand even if I say so myself and that also makes a difference.
Here you see three of the same photos.
The original on full frame, one at 50% crop and one at 100% crop, not bad I thought.
