I had gotten a decent photo of this European hornet, but I decided to go back, and I’m glad I did. This subject was lying on the ground below the nest, and I put it on stick using a mini welding station that I clipped the stick to. F14 1/80s 200 ISO with flash.

I forgot to mention this was a single, hand-held shot.
