Conservation's goals include protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystem services and protecting biological diversity. A range of values underlie conservation, which can be guided by biocentrism, anthropocentrism, ecocentrism and sentientism. There are many special areas located across the globe that are setup to conserve & protect our unique ecosystems...Have you visited one of these areas deemed special for its conservation efforts? https://www.protectedplanet.net

The plight of the Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) Jack Pine Trail, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Conservation Status: imperiled (S2N,S4B) in Ontario, CA (NatureServe) is a North American story from Canada to Mexico. It is the largest concern for a butterfly population and a big conservation crisis that has developed in recent years. Some summers the butterfly is nowhere to be seen when in the past it was the most common butterfly.

Global Protected Areas = There are currently 245,133 designated protected areas recorded in the WDPA. Most areas are on land, and collectively protect 20,455,273 km2, equivalent to 15.2% of the earth’s land surface. Marine protected areas, despite being fewer in number, cover 26,925,028 km2 of the earth, representing 7.4% of the world’s oceans. However, marine areas under national jurisdiction (Exclusive Economic Zones or EEZ, 0-200 nautical miles (nm)) have significantly more protection (17.2%) than Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (ABNJ) (>200nm from the coast), with only 1.2% of protection.

Conservation & Protected Areas are places to relax and enjoy Flora & Fauna. They are places to find most memorable experiences and take amazing photographs. Nature is good for your health and wellbeing. Tree bathing is a most rewarding experience you can have in your life. Take a lesson from this little guy...hug a tree once and awhile:
American Red Squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) Britannia Conservation Area, Mud Lake, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
