Captured this morning. I tried for a shot at eye level but it flew away.

A lot of details, I didn't know that flies had hair on their eyes, nice metallic aspect, the most difficult is to manage the reflections.

@Christophe Berche At the moment I am trying to manage the reflections by comparing different diffusion materials.
I have tried reducing the exposure but that just means more noise. It is these challenges that make macro interesting (and frustrating)

I completely agree with you, the only way is to move away from the subject to be photographed, that limits a little the reflection of the flash...
I have the same problem now with the raynox Lens

Those metallic effects are the best! I really love flies and bugs with such an armor and you've done it perfectly @Bill Edwards! Very sharp with all details!

I retouched the contrasts and especially the white balance.
Then remove the reflection on the fly's back., and a little sharpening

..and maybe bring down the saturation of the green a wee bit? just wondering...
