Thank you helix - yes, it is far easier for sharpness to take an image in profile or at least half-profile.

But that big old boy really was slow.

A perfect photo Vimes . Good colour balance, very sharp and great details. There is a bit of blur on the left hand side of the subject but not really visible.

Thank you. And yes: the last 15% or something lose some sharpness. f16 only gets you so far when the subject isn’t perfectly aligned. Out in nature this is always a challenging matter for me, dancing around these beetles like a medicine man in these western movies.
