Because i could not get the sensor clean from my Nikon d7200 i decided to use tweezers and a pec pad with some sensor cleaning fluid and try to get the stubborn dust spots of the sensor with some pressure that i could not apply when using sensor swabs.

Well to make along story very short. I scratched the sensor and it now has a big scratch on it that is visible on photos and does not matter what aperture you use, visible from f3.5 all the way to f/36

My own fault, i should have been more careful and maybe use a cotton swab with the pac pad instead of the metal tweezers. I am afraid that it will be a expensive repair and not sure if i am going to have it repaired if it too expensive.

To be honest, I think I still have some dust on my camera sensor. I tried to clean with cotton Swabs, but I don't think worked. I don't think I'll do it again,i will just remove them in Photoshop.

You need to be very careful with camera sensor, that's pretty the most important part of the camera in my opinion.

Jack Jack , is it wise to clean your camera sensor using cotton swab? I'm planning to buy a cleaning kit but those are very costly. I just use a blower to remove the dust particles and nothing else.

Yes, as long as these are cotton Swabs then I see no issue. Don't try to clean the sensor with covid kit Swabs, these are full with some white particules.

My cleaning kit cost me around £15. I always have it in my bag. I also purchased an additional cotton cloth to clean my lenses.

It was my misstake. i had a bad day and took oxycodon for the pain. To get my mind of it i starten cleaning my lenses and after that the d7200. Should have stopped after the lenses but was not thinking clear and this the result.

i did send mails asking what it would cost to have it repaired.

Bad day indeed TMG1961, a new genuine Nikon sensor is around $60 here in Thailand and probably the same again for the labour to fix it, so not so expensive but still money that could be used elsewhere.

I am afraid that it will be a lot more here in The Netherlands

I did get quotes and they are all around 500 euro. Think i will have a look into converting the camera into astro or Infra red camera.

I have cleaned my lenses recently as well. The camera sensors I just used the camera blower, nothing that serious. I do have cleaning kit with gloves and all the stuff, so if I decide to clean inside, I try to do properly.

I don't use any liquid on my camera sensors, just clean cotton Swabs.

That's a lot. You better get a new camera for those money. You might get decent one from ebay, or brand new. Depending on the model.

It is either sell the camera for spare parts, throw it away of have it converted for astro and find out how to still use it during dayb time and get "normal" looking photos from it.

An othe option will be, look on eBay for just the sensor, go to camera shop and pay only for the labour. That will cost you cheaper.
