Springtails are tiny creatures, often no bigger than 2mm.
There are many different types, spherical or elongated, but in my garden I only found the spherical ones so far. Sometimes they are translucent, sometimes striped and sometimes a bit blotchy.
And, as their name suggests, they can jump. Not very far, but if you've just focused and they jump away, that's a drain on your patience.
They feed on decaying material and fungi. And can therefore often be found under (rotting) leaves, for example.
All in all, they are a lot of fun, especially if you delve into the bugs.

wonderful picture showing this opposition between the huge leaf and the small creature - I don't know the word in English, but in French.

I found a lot of them but haven't taken a photo of them so far. Great shot with a very good qualiy for such a small and delicate insect! Well done!
