Hi Little-em , no bad picture if the background will be better ,. But good trying

Try to use a cup or something bigger and change the angle. Or use a construction paper as background. The idea itself is very good and well done for the first time. But you need much more light to be able to use high shutter speed above 1/1000s. But the basics are really good. I've never tried it myself before and know this only on a theorical base.

Not bad conception Little-em , maybe try to use a black background and some lighting kit as well

I don't think cropping will help, this might damage the image.
