I will post more!
I'm very excited with abstract and close up photography! The last couple of weeks I did some early in the morning visits in a botanical garden that is relatively close to where I live. To be honest I go every weekend as soon as I wake up because it's early and is quite. I I spent 2 to 3 hours each time I go there, walking and photographing. This thing with close up photography has also changed te way I work a lot. I shoot at about 99% with my 50mm lenses! My Helios 81N and my nikkor af 50mm f1.8D. Shooting with a nifty fifty lens is an excellent experience creative wise. Nice angle no distorsion and you can play anytime with the depth of field. I own 50mm lenses for the past 25 and more years and after all this time lately they have replaced my zoom lenses. Well it depends on the subject and place also. You get my point.

I have 50 mm lens too, I know they have been built for portraits shootings. But yes you are right, the bokeh effect you can get with them are outstanding. And it’s very interesting to shoot macro with them, sad you can’t go 1:1 ratio with them.

Jack Jack you can if you use extension tubes. I used a 50 mm and tubes for years until I got a macro lens.

Well.
Lenses are tools to use and express yourself photographically. I do not 'see' them as made for portraits or landscape etc. I use them depending with what I want to express and shoot. I use them to compress or decompress space with my subject depending on what I shoot. The 50mm lenses were always the standard lenses for cameras. The 50mm lenses are also known as being closer to the visual angle of the human eye. (Basically the 45mm)
But they are excellent for portraiture!

About the 1:1 that is a forum rule I will have to apologise (at least) as a respect of mine to the forum rules.
But when I take photos I never think about technical rules of 1:1 or 1:2 etc. I just try to express myself and what I feel when I look at my subject.

This why I do not post often photos. I know than I do not shoot 1:1 and I try to keep a low profile as a respect to the forum rules.
