those settings look pretty good. Using another rule of thumb - Looney 11, your ISO for that speed should be 500 for a decent moon exposure shot. That doesnt sound too bad but f/11, 1/250 sec and ISO 250 sounds a bit better, you'll get a chance to experiment and see what works for you. Shooting the moon isnt too hard, you can even handhold something as long as 600mm to take a shot and get away with it. My brother eliasfta eliasfta shot the moon last week on a 200-600 lens, lets see if we can get him to post his shot here
Here you go, that's uncropped on Sony 200-600mm on A6400 aps-c (300-900mm).

I really want to buy Sigma 150-600 this year (big hope).

if you have the chance, rent that lens before you buy it. I got the contemporary version of that lens in Canon mount to use with my Sony camera and didn't like the image quality from 400 to 600mm, so I returned it.
yes, as TCs have lens elements inside, they affect the image quality of the lens. as with lenses themselves, some TCs affect the IQ more than others. also, in general, a x2TC will degrade the IQ more than a x1.4TC.

it also depends on how good/bad the lens in the front is, the sharper the lens is in the center of the image, the better results you get with the TC.

oh, I almost forgot to say, the tricky part of TCs from brands like Canon, Sony and Nikon is that they only fit a small selection of lenses, as they have protruding elements that cannot physically fit to other lenses. as a rule of thumb, Canon's white lenses are the only ones that can use Canon's own TCs. third party TCs are usually made to fit any lens. I used to use a Kenko x2TC with my Canon 100mm f2.8L macro to get to 2:1, though the quality was a bit... meh.

I'm thinking about to buy the Laowa 25mm 2,5x-5x lens this year to get some great slime mould shots next season. I would need a macrorail as well for focus stacking.
a tripod for MF? I would risk to say that only around 10% of my macro pictures are shot with a tripod. I find them cumbersome and I prefer to shoot handheld. I took the shot of the hoverfly handholding the camera, with the lens set to MF and to 1:1. the thing is that when you do this, you just forget about the focus ring, you focus by "tilting" (not sure if that's the correct term) your body.

At this moment I own about all the most important lenses for macro one can wish for. Starting with the sharpest ever, Nikon Micro Nikkor AF-D 200 f/4 - Nikon Micro Nikkor AF-S 105 f/2,8 - Canon 180L - Canon MP-E65. Not saying to make you envier, but for letting know the rest....
Camera: Olympus M1 Mark-2 and Mark-3. With the help of the adapter from Metabones it is possible to use all these fine glasses on the Olympus camera's. Beneficting of the smaller sensor, so I have a light advantage, mm advangtage and a entlargement advantage. Most of all: an huge working distance. EG the 200 Micro Nikkor has about 34cm between the front lens and the subject at 1:1!!!

These macro's has been made with the Nikkor 200 and the Canon MP-E65. All single shot, no flash.

Still I would like to have the Laowas 24mm f/14 lens......just because it is so special :)

This year I hope to get either the 55mm f1.8 Zeiss or the 20mm f1.8 Sony.

The 55 is a lens I have wanted for a very long time, very sharp and great focal range for many situations, the 20mm is a lens I want for astro.
i will give it a try with my 70-300 lens first, see what can i achieve. But i believe i definitely need a longer lens for that.

I doubled check, just in case I had some zoom creep but nope, definitely 600mm, don't think my settings were optimal for this picture, but just to give you an idea of the focal range on on aps-c.
