have you ever seen one of these? it puzzled me a lot as it looks like a mix of a dragonfly and a butterfly.

Libelloides baeticus, shot back in 2018.

I didn't know that name, well, that one nor the Spanish version. I asked some older people and they didn't know that insect. I posted the photo on a Spanish insect identification website, but they only gave me the scientific name.

This belongs to Owl Fly family.. please refer to the below screenshot..

oh, I didn't mean to say you were wrong, only that I had never heard of the common name. I should have thanked you to avoid any confusion.
