Ethereal

A series of photos created in my home. Smoke shapes and motion always captured my attention photographically. I've caught myself admiring smoke shapes countless times and some days ago I made two attempts photographing smoke using insense sticks.

Unfortunately I don't own a flash unit because until now I never needed one. And when I did I used my camera's internal flash. Soon I will add one (wireless) in my gear.

Anyway...
The photos where taken in my kitchen using black background (soundproof panels from my other hobby Hi-End Audio), led torch and table light guided with a cereals box as a shader around the light source, to the smoke.

Smoke needs strong lightsources that I didn't have so I had to shoot with ISO 800 - 6400 using my Nikon D610 that has excellent high iso noise performance and DR.

I like this photo project, very creative and good idea . I need to try it too if just find moment Autumn and winter are just best time for shooting at home for me, so .. still some of months..

What do you mean I took over the project?

I set my camera on the tripod focused at about 30cm and took photos in continuous shooting mode.

I meant that's great project and idea to shoot on.

That's very close in my opinion.

I like the number 3. Just interesting how much details you can achieve when shooting fire or smoke

It was difficult. In some shots I was at 75cm I have to practice a lot.... I took more than 400 photos. Most were out of focus.....

400 Images. That's mad a lot . Have you tried to go higher shutter speed ?
